 One of the many things I love about living in the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago is that the local shops offer a unique shopping opportunity where you can always expect the unexpected. Yesterday, I had the chance to pop in to Brownstone Antiques and Collectibles at 5234 N Clark Street. What greeted me at the door was indeed a one-of-a-kind find: two 5 foot tall Indian chief lamps. They are simply awesome and I struggled all day to think of who among my friends would just have to have them. Unfortunately, I came up empty handed. But I want someone to have them and give them a good home for the next 75 years of their life. They are just too cool not to be shared.
The shops of Andersonville frequently offer opportunities to find objects like no other. Here, there are few chains and instead we have a collective of merchants that are devoted to bringing the community and our visitors that special gift like no other. Shop local. Shop Andersonville. After a bit of controversy, the City's new 2012 city sticker was released and it sure is dull. Oh well, what do you expect when you take a job designed for 3rd graders and turn it over to a bunch of Chicago politicians. Am sure taht the next we hear is that this design cost the city's taxpayers sever hundred thousand dollars for outside design consultant, who also happen to be close relatives of the Clerk. This is Chicago after all.

One of the greatest parts of living in the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago is the abundant opportunities to take in cool art. One of my favorite artists is Chuck Meyers. His art is whimsical at time - as evidenced by the series of Jelly beans pictured here - but also exhibits a great appreciation of the neighborhood he lives and works in.  Got a hankering for a good Chicago dog? Tried Huey's lately? My co-working, Manuel and I were out talking with Andersonville landlords last wee about the Chicago apartments that they had for rent and after some great results we decided to reward ourselves with a good dog from Huey's.
